![]() ![]() No matter what kind of swing you get, there's always a slight chance your baby won't want to use it. So, while it may not be a foolproof philosophy, I think it creates an ideal environment to help your baby like a swing as much as possible. When my baby isn't in the mood to be set down, it doesn't matter what type of swing or chair you give her. Otherwise I think it becomes a negative association thing after a while. Calm the baby down first, and then put them in the swing. Some of the bad reviews I've personally read are essentially, "My baby hated it, so we never used it." While I'm sure this is possible in some cases, I heard a good tip before my daughter was born: Don't put an upset baby in a swing or chair. But I don't really have any other swings to compare it to, since this is our first baby and our first swing. ![]() The different motions are great, and I love how easy it is to adjust the incline. It seems like the mamaroo is somewhat of a gamble, your baby might like it, and then it's a glorious contraption, or it might not like it and becomes an expensive floor sculpture. But some reviewers online seem like its one of the greatest things ever. It seems so expensive and baby might not like it, or use it for very long. I'm still on the fence about this Mamaroo thing. We don't have a lot of space in our house and can't fit a swing, so we'll probably get a bouncer because they take up so little space. ![]() For those of you who don't know what it is. Slipways began life as a PICO-8 prototype (still playable now), and the leap from simple pixel art to its gorgeous 3D and uber-polished UI is remarkable. War slowed these games down too much, so he completely removed it. ![]() Instead of managing individual planets, Wasilewski focused on the logistics of an empire. Wasilewski wanted to streamline out the parts of strategy games that he found to be busy-work or excessive micromanagement. I understand that some of you live in Europe and only come across blotter acid once every 20 years(or order it from your imaginary friends online), or live in the US but are 10+ years too young to have been there when LSD WAS incredibly available, incredibly potent, AND GUESS FUCKING WHAT?! There were different kinds! ![]() The band’s concerts were (and still are) big acid scenes.^Of course a lot of the thing with names is bullshit and always has been, but don't discount everything you hear just because you've never had any direct experience with it! Others are less subtle, like the sheet emblazoned with the Grateful Dead’s skull-and-lightning bolt logo. Bill appeared on a blotter, McCloud says, it signified that the sheet came from a certain chemist named Bill. Bill, the clay figurine from Saturday Night Live-were actually subtle clues when Mr. Many designs-like the sheets imprinted with Mr. This was especially helpful at the time, when people would mail sheets of LSD around the world simply by slipping them into record sleeves. McCloud surmises that most blotter art was created so manufacturers, dealers, and consumers could identify the origins of the acid. The drug-documenting site Erowid says it’s led to “an array of creative and stunning designs,” so much so that “it is likely that a few of the blotter designs shown have never been dipped and were created purely as art.” Erowid has its own digital gallery of LSD blotter art, and some of the visual tropes from the Institute of Illegal Images can be found there as well. Blotter art is a relatively new, and still underground, art form. It’s a new word, and the word hasn’t been with us very long.”Īnyway. And the first novel that had the word was. “ The Psychedelic Sounds of The 13th Floor Elevators, who I just saw play on Halloween. “The first record to have the word 'psychedelic' on the album was The 13th Floor Elevators, from Austin,” he says. Upon learning that I grew up in Austin, Texas, he quickly tells me it’s the birthplace of psychedelic rock. McCloud is a longtime San Franciscan who says he’s “always been an artist” but that his "main hobby has always been the collecting and cataloging of LSD on paper.” He is a veritable trove of trivia. ” It's a little like saying you read Playboy for the articles, but McCloud says his gratitude towards “the Sunshine” (the acid he dropped that night was called "Orange Sunshine") is partly why he’s collected blotters all these years. A lot of people think they would have died when they had an accident. It would have just been a death experience without the LSD, for sure,” he says. “I was on LSD when I had my death-rebirth experience. He was tripping at the time, and says it saved his life. On December 9, 1971-he rattles off the date in a way that suggests it’s indelibly etched into to his brain-he fell out of a window. One thing that “happened” to McCloud was a near-fatal accident. These icons often appear hundreds of times on a single blotter, so when the sheet is perforated into individual hits, each tab features the same little decal-a calling card for the dealer who sold it. There’s some predictable new age iconography (like dolphins and zodiac caricatures) and some equally predictable goofiness (think pre-Emoji smiley faces and Mickey Mouse in his sorcerer's apprentice garb). Scan the Institute's collection-a fraction of which is published on its website, Blotter Barn-and you’ll find a wide-ranging spectrum of art that McCloud’s been collecting since the 1970s. McCloud calls his house the Institute of Illegal Images. He collects these SIM-card-sized artifacts because, weirdly enough, they’re tiny works of art. He doesn't collect these tabs to sell them. What is clear is that because each sheet, or "blotter," can be perforated into hundreds of little acid-imbued tabs, this guy, Mark McCloud, has amassed several million hits of LSD over the years. Just how many more isn't clear, because no one's done an inventory since the feds last tried to bust him 13 years ago. There’s a guy in San Francisco who has more than 33,000 sheets of LSD in his house. ![]() ![]() That will leave the Mustang as the only car left on Ford lots. In the next year or two, the Fiesta, Focus, Fusion and Taurus will all disappear from our market. Still, the most notable addition for 2019 is the new Ford Performance-tuned Edge ST, a replacement for the Edge Sport and the first crossover to wear an ST badge. You can check out our full review of the 2019 Edge right here. Changes include refreshed styling, an updated powertrain, and new standard and optional equipment, building on what was already a strong midsize contender. The Edge has been revised for 2019, though this isn't an all-new model like Ford would have you believe. With the storm looming, we attacked a great stretch of road to push the new 2019 Ford Edge ST hard before the weather turned. The sun eventually shone through grey skies stretching from Salt Lake City to Park City, lighting a sea of red and yellow leaves resting atop newly paved switchbacks. ![]() Even after we landed, we had a truncated lunch in order to hit the mountain roads before the weather rolled in. PARK CITY, Utah - We were expecting rain the entire time we were in Utah. Some of Ford's other crossovers look a bit … Thanks in part to the surprisingly restrained use of ST badges (one in the grille and one on the hatch), the overall design is sharp and handsome. The front bumper has trim that resembles the Shelby GT350 and the rear bumper has squared-off exhaust outlets. The grill uses the same mesh pattern as other ST products. Ford designers ditched the chrome in favor of gloss-black accents on the grille, bumpers and window trim. You're not likely to mistake the Edge ST for the standard model. All-season-wrapped 20-inch wheels are standard, though all of our testers had upgraded tire and wheel packages. The $2,695 ST Performance Brake Package adds 13.6-inch front rotors, red brake calipers and black 21-inch wheels with Pirelli P-Zero summer tires, the only other wheel offering. The steering has more weight and is quicker than before. The Edge Sport's twin-tube shocks have been swapped out for firmer monotube units. The Edge ST hits 60 mph in fewer than 6 seconds, making it slightly quicker than the old Edge Sport and the Focus ST. As with the standard Edge, the all-wheel drive system can decouple the rear axle to improve fuel economy - 19 city, 29 highway and 25 combined. Power is sent to all four wheels through a new 8-speed automatic with standard paddle shifters. Output for 2019 is 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque, up 20 horses and 30 pound-feet over the Edge Sport. Like the old Edge Sport, the Edge ST is powered by Ford's 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6. With Ford going all-in on crossovers and SUVs in the U.S., it needed a vehicle to carry on the practical-performance image currently embodied by the Fiesta ST and Focus ST and RS. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
